Sparks 4 - 2 Spencer 4s (H)

Despite the raining weather and the icy pitch, the sun came out just in time for our match. The game started off strong with Ruth, Player of the Match, scoring an outstanding goal after a 16 yard hit out from Charlotte left her one on one with the keeper.
Spencer came back strong a couple of minutes later with a successful short corner, however thanks to Marlijn’s great saves and the strong defence we were able to clear away any other threats. Our short corners were again a success - Charlotte G deflecting the ball from a slap from Charlotte S straight into the net.
The team came back even stronger in the second half. Ruth scored another goal, a one touch strike in open play. Spencer pulled one more back, but Emily’s reverse stick shot put us safely at 4-2 for the win.
A shout out to Simon and Lloydy for their usual calm and consistent umpiring. Keeping some overexcited players/teachers/coaches in check isn’t always easy, but they did the job excellently!
With Gamblers taking the victory over Wanderers a couple of hours earlier, with a game in hand, Sparks have won the league and gained promotion for next season!
