Note of Condolence: John Hornby

It is with great sadness that we must report the passing of John Hornby on 21st July, following a short illness. John was a generous supporter of SHC who enjoyed a long and fond connection to the club over many years.
John was elected Vice President in 1980. He was well known as a player and the last record we have of him playing was in the Strollers Vets Tournament of 1981. He also served as Club Secretary from 1973/74 to 1976/77 and continued to support SHC up to the present day, most notably at the annual Old Members Day lunches and memorably at Legends Day in September 2024 as we celebrated 150 years of Surbiton HC.
John's funeral will be on Friday 18th September at Holy Trinity Church, Claygate, at 12:00 noon, and afterwards in the church hall. If you would like to attend please let Wendy Beaney know in order to allow her to liaise with Nancy: wbeaney@ntlworld.com
