Note of Condolence: Michael Moore (1942 - 2026)
By Surbiton HC
We are sorry to report the passing of Michael Moore, a former club member, volunteer and Vice President of Surbiton Hockey Club, who died peacefully on 11th March in hospital near his home in Deganwy, North Wales, attended by immediate family members.
Michael played at the club in the 1970s (including four seasons as 4XI captain), was Assistant Treasurer from 1972-1976 and Honorary Treasurer from 1976-83. He was also made a Vice President of SHC in the 1984/85 season. Michael’s son Tim mentions that while he had not been down to Surbiton for some years, he followed news of the club, and would always talk happily of the times that he was involved in the hockey there.
Club Patron and Life Vice-President Wendy Beaney reflects, “Sadly I am probably the only current member who can remember Michael & the great times we all had at Surbiton. He certainly played a big part in helping to make Surbiton the best in the country.”
Michael’s funeral will take place on 31st March at St Mary’s Church, Caerhun in Wales. The service begins at 13:00 and there will be a gathering with refreshments afterwards at the Caerhun Hall Hotel, within walking distance form the church. Taxis to and from the church / hotel should be booked in advance, since the location is somewhat rural: we recommend Castle Cabs on 01492 593398. If you wish to attend the funeral please contact Tim Moore
From all at Surbiton HC, we extend our condolences to Michael's family and friends.
