Surbiton's Junior Teams Successful in Nottingham

Surbiton's Junior Teams were successful in Nottingham over the weekend, when hard work was rewarded.

Surbiton's U16 Boys and Girls both won the Supra League Finals.

Our boys beat Repton 3-1 in their first Pool C game, James Ford scoring twice after Toby Balls opened the scoring. William Fretwell replied for Beeston.

Balls opened the scoring against Wotton Under Edge as our boys won 4-1, Sam Geering, Wabi O'Brien and Toby Thompson also scoring, Josh Bray scoring for Wotton Under Edge.

Their third Pool C game was drawn 1-1 with Trojans, Dexter Garlick equalising after Khai-Ren Wong put Trojans ahead.

Surbiton qualified for the final after coming top of Pool C on seven points, Repton on four points with Trojans and Wotton Under Edge both on two points.

The final was also drawn 1-1 with Surbiton winning a shootout 4-3. Aidan Gaunt-Edwards gave City of York the lead but Wabi O'Brien levelled to force the shootout.

Sam Geering, James Kilkenny, Toby Balls and Tom Cowling scored for Surbiton with Arthur Good, Aidan Gaunt-Edwards and Jack Lucas scoring for City of York.

Surbiton U16 Girls finished top of Pool B on seven points, a point ahead of Sutton Coldfield, with Sevenoaks on 4 points and City of York unfortunately losing all three games.

Surbiton beat Sutton Coldfield 7-1, Sophie Osbourne scoring twice with Monica Alcover, Otillie Miller, Emilia Dopson, Izzy Yonge and Isla Perkins also scoring for Surbiton. Mae Reeves replied for Sutton Coldfield.

Izzy Yonge and Sophie Osbourne gave Surbiton a 2-0 lead over Sevenoaks, but the Kent club fought back to draw 2-2 through Olivia Gossage and Milicent Wright. 

Izzy Yonge then put in a superb individual performance scoring seven goals in an 8-0 win over City of York. Mathilde Glover scored the eighth goal. 

Sevenoaks lost 3-2 to Sutton Coldfield before Surbiton met Wimbledon in the final. Surbiton won 3-1, coming from behind after Isabella Franklin gave Wimbledon the lead. Mathilde Glover, Monica Alcover and Sophie Osborne all scored to help Surbiton win the final. 

In other finals, Surbiton's U16 Boys lost 4-1 to Brighton & Hove in the U16 Boys T2 Plate Final. Tom Hornsby gave Surbiton the lead but Brighton battled back thanks to Noah Kendrick, Fintan Harman, Jacob Ridley and Jens Peters.

Repton were also too strong for Surbiton's U16 Girls in the U16 Girls T1 Plate Final. Repton won 4-1 after leading 4-0 through Tabitha Morley, Martha Haines, Layla Wholey and Zara Evans; Lianne Heal scored Surbiton's goal.

Surbiton's U16 Huskies won the U16 Boys T1 Plate Final, 2-1 over Alderley Edge. Callum Richardson gave Alderley Edge the lead but Louis Lloyd-Reynolds and Sam Richards turned the match round for the Huskies.

Finally, Surbiton's U18 Girls beat Clifton Robinsons 4-0 in the U18 Girls T1 Cup Final. Isabella Baileff scored Surbiton's first two goals with Matilda Gibson and Natalie Barncoat completing a comprehensive victory.
