Policies & Child Protection

Surbiton Hockey Club is committed to ensuring that all coaches, managers, volunteers, players and spectators adhere to strict Codes of Conduct both on and off the pitch. We have placed copies of all the Codes onto this website, so please ensure that you read them carefully.

England Hockey has a Code of Ethics & Behaviour which covers all people involved in hockey in this country. Everyone involved in the sport should promote equality of access and opportunity, fairness and respect. All those involved within hockey have a responsibility to act according to the highest standards of integrity and to ensure that the reputation of the sport remains high. This Code encapsulates all of the sporting, moral and ethical principles that hockey represents and is intended for all participants and disciplines within the sport however they choose to participate – as a player, umpire, coach, official, volunteer or a parent supporting on the sidelines.

We have a strictly enforced Child Protection policy which all players, coaches, managers and parents are directed to read and use as reference for any issues that might be of concern.  We have provided links to our Child Protection Statement, Equity Policy and Developmental Selection Policy  and to other policies here.  To read more about England Hockey’s Safeguarding Young People Policy and Guidelines, or to download relevant documents, click here to access the dedicated section on their website [external link].

The Privacy policy describes how Surbiton Hockey Club collects, uses and safeguards information provided to us.

These policies and other documents should be read in conjunction with the Constitution of the Club.

All Child Protection issues and concerns should be directed to Sue Haycroft, Surbiton Hockey Club’s Child Protection Officer.  Sue can be contacted on 01372  469149 or 07970 077365.    If you are considering helping at Surbiton HC, or coaching at Surbiton HC, then you will require a DBS (previously known as a CRB) check.  Please contact Gill Griffiths on colts@surbitonhc.com to organise this.
