Barbeque Season Brings In Funds For Club Refurbishment
The Colts season may have ended at Surbiton, but the Club welcomed hundreds of young hockey players from around the country for England Hockey’s South Finals on the 3rd and 10th April, followed by Surbiton HC’s annual Tony Smith Tournament on 17th April.
Paul Stockden and his BBQ team once again surpassed themselves and worked tirelessly to raise over £2,000 for the Club’s “Future is Now” fundraising during the three weekends. Paul and Jose were joined this year by Jose’s brother who is actually a proper chef! (No wonder there was a queue at the BBQ!). With the enticing smell of bacon butties, hot dogs and burgers, the BBQ was up and running from 8am each morning to welcome the players and spectators to the Club. An additional BBQ cook appeared on the day of the Tony Smith tournament, boosting taking with his wonderful chip making!
A popular addition and many thanks to John Arthur for his chip fryer and his expertise. Well done everyone and thanks to all who took part!
